Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) Registered Nurse – Pennsylvania

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 40-hour orientation; patient ratios range from 1:1 to 3:1 in critical care settings; may float to medical-surgical or low-level monitoring units with up to 4 patients; every other weekend and holiday required; no on-call

Highlights:

• Work in a large, 981-bed teaching hospital with Level I Trauma designation across seven specialized ICUs including CVICU, MICU/SICU, Open Heart Unit, Trauma/Neuro ICU, Neuroscience ICU, and Burn Unit
• Diverse adult and geriatric patient population requiring advanced critical care including post-cardiac surgery, CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, stroke management, and multi-system organ failure
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and physical therapy
• Critical Care Float Pool role with exposure to multiple ICU environments and complex case mix
• Excellent reputation among travel healthcare professionals with many converting to permanent staff
• Collaborative teaching environment ideal for experienced ICU nurses seeking diverse clinical challenges

Requirements:

• Current Pennsylvania RN license or Compact license in hand at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; Critical Care Float Pool experience strongly preferred
• Previous experience in a teaching hospital and Level I Trauma facility required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with patient ratios of 2:1 to 3:1
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Proficiency in cardiovascular critical care skills including post-cardiac surgery care, hemodynamic monitoring (Swan-Ganz, FloTrac/Vigileo), epicardial pacing wire management, vasoactive and cardiac drip titration, ventilator management, arterial line management, and care of fresh tracheostomies
