This full-time role will be day-shift working various days located in Alexandria, VA. The Registered Dietitian provides safe and therapeutic nutritional care in a comprehensive and systematic manner. We are also proud to be consistently recognized as a top employer in both the D.C. metro area and the nation.Featured BenefitsCommitted to Team Member Health: offering medical, dental and vision coverage, and a robust team member wellness program.Retirement: Inova matches the first 5% of eligible contributions – starting on your first day.Tuition and Student Loan Assistance: offering up to $5,250 per year in education assistance and up to $10,000 for student loans.Mental Health Support: offering all Inova team members, their spouses/partners, and their children 25 mental health coaching or therapy sessions, per person, per year, at no cost.Work/Life Balance: offering paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules.Registered Dietitian ResponsibilitiesPerforms a comprehensive assessment by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data and synthesizing their interrelationships.Formulates an individualized nutrition plan of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.Anticipates nutritional intervention issues, monitors patient tolerance to nutrition therapy and responds when standards of nutrition care recommend changes.Coordinates the nutrition care plan with the physician and other healthcare providers while serving as a resource in the integration of the nutrition care plan into the comprehensive plan of care for the patient.Communicates with the healthcare team members, patients and families to maximize patient outcomes.Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to increase practice knowledge and incorporate that knowledge into the nutrition plan of care.Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy outcomes.Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.Assesses the educational needs of patients/families and provides appropriate nutrition education/counseling.Provides education to physicians, residents, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize nutrition therapy interventions and outcomes. Incorporates research findings into nutrition practice standards, may develop/revise patient education programs when applicable, and participates in the development and revision of patient education materials.May perform other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree minimum if licensed before 1/1/2024; Dietitians registered after 1/1/2024 must hold a Master's DegreeCertification: Registered Dietitian (RD) within 3 months; Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA)About UsWe are Inova, Northern Virginia's leading nonprofit healthcare provider.
