Landscape Project Estimator, Landscape Installation We are looking to hire a great Landscape Estimator who is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial landscape installation projects. This role partners closely with Sales, Operations, and Branch Leadership to evaluate project scope, develop pricing strategies, and support profitable growth across the Installation Division. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring bids are aligned with company standards, market conditions, and operational capabilities while maintaining a high level of detail, urgency, and accountability. This position is required in office, Monday through Friday. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Bid Development Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial landscape installation projects including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors Analyze plans, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements Perform quantity take-offs and develop accurate pricing models Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids to ensure competitiveness and completeness Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within project scope and pricing Technical Estimating & Data Entry Perform precise digital take-offs from landscape, irrigation, and hardscape plans using industry-standard software. Calculate material totals, equipment needs, and labor hour requirements based on established production rates. Build comprehensive bid folders that include all supporting documentation, vendor quotes, and specification notes. Internal Collaboration & Lifecycle Support Project Management Liaison: Partner with Project Managers during the hand-off phase to ensure the "as-sold" budget is clearly understood and executable. Field Coordination: Communicate regularly with Superintendents to gather feedback on labor production and material yields to refine future estimating accuracy. Sales Support: Assist the sales team in identifying cost-saving alternatives (value engineering) to help win competitive bids. Administrative & Vendor Management Maintain and update the regional price book for materials, ensuring all estimates reflect current market conditions in the Tampa area. Solicit and organize subcontractor bids, ensuring they meet the specific scopes of work required for each project. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in estimating, preferably within the landscape, irrigation, or construction trades. Education: Degree in Construction Management, Landscape Contracting, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with digital take-off software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is preferred, not required. Systems Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn and utilize landscape management software for estimating and job costing. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across different departments and levels of the organization. Industry Knowledge: Understanding landscape installation sequences and Florida-specific materials is highly preferred, not required. Core Competencies for Success Detail Orientation: Identifying discrepancies in architectural plans before they become costly field issues. Collaborative Spirit: Working seamlessly with PMs and Superintendents to bridge the gap between sales and production. Analytical Thinking: Evaluating complex data sets to determine the most efficient and profitable way to bid a project. Consistency: Delivering high-quality, accurate work under steady deadlines without the need for frequent site-based verification.
