Overview The Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance is hiring Health Facility Inspectors in Carson City, NV. Inspectors will conduct on‑site and off‑site surveys to ensure facilities comply with state licensure, federal certification, and regulatory standards. Candidates with experience as registered sanitarians, dietitians, social workers, pharmacists or other allied professionals are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Conduct inspections of hospitals, nursing facilities, prisons, home health agencies, laboratories, and other healthcare settings. Inspect healthcare facilities for compliance with infection‑control regulations, ensuring inspectors are equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment. Evaluate compliance with federal and state statutes through record review, interviews, and observations. Complete all required inspection activities, documentation and follow‑up documents within established deadlines. Pass the Surveyor Minimum Qualification (SMQT) examination within the first year of employment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, agencies and sister state departments. Communicate clearly in English with inspectors, agencies and the public. Travel throughout and outside of Nevada as needed for inspections, training and conferences. Maintain a valid driver’s license. Conduct initial meetings with facility owners and staff to explain the inspection process and obtain necessary information. Review facility policies, quality assurance programs, patient medical records and infection‑control measures for compliance with standards. Review financial statements, contracts and other operational records to ensure sound business practices. Inspect the physical plant, verify room and bed counts, evaluate construction standards, environmental safety and emergency plans. Review architectural drawings and construction plans for compliance with state building and life‑safety codes. Summarize findings and identify violations for presentation to facility administrators during exit interviews. Prepare formal reports detailing inspection results and recommend enforcement actions as required. Review and approve plans to correct deficiencies and conduct dispute‑resolution meetings. Investigate complaints against facilities and recommend appropriate actions. Provide training seminars on regulatory issues and new techniques for healthcare providers. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, health care, business administration, medical or biological sciences, criminal justice, or a specialty field such as dietetics, facilities construction, finance, medical technology, social work or related discipline. Two years of professional experience as an inspector or surveyor in a health‑related accrediting organization or in a federal or state regulatory compliance program, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Former Health Facility Inspector I or Child Care Facilities Surveyor within Nevada State. Graduate of the Surveyor Minimum Qualification (SMQT) within the first year of employment. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across Nevada. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Working Knowledge Regulatory and compliance processes. Interpersonal relationships and team‑building techniques. Principles of health care delivery systems. General Knowledge Basic human anatomy and physiology. Abilities Identify non‑compliance with regulations and produce clear, concise, accurate documents and reports. Provide guidance to new inspectors and inform providers and the public about inspection procedures. Identify and secure necessary information for thorough reviews. Make independent decisions based on professional judgment. Respond appropriately in hostile situations. Recognize indications of patient or resident illness or abnormality. Evaluate laboratory proficiency to ensure accurate results. Identify possible abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property by healthcare recipients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
