What You'll Do
- Provide patient care for cardiac and medical step-down patients, including those recovering from major surgeries, CVA, respiratory failure, and other critical conditions
- Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and vasopressors such as Esmolol, Cardene, Amiodarone, and more
- Manage central lines, chest tubes, wound care, and ventilators as needed
- Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNA, RT, pharmacy, and hospitalist staff
- Assist with patient monitoring, documentation, and delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced environment
- Support unit operations and patient safety in a diverse, traveler-friendly setting
What You Need
- Valid RN license in Louisiana or ability to obtain
- Minimum of 2 years recent PCU RN experience, including cardiac step-down units
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; LVAD certification preferred (for 2W unit)
- Ability to pass an EKG competency exam
- Strong skills in cardiac management, monitoring, and general PCU procedures
- Experience managing complex patient conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, post-surgical recovery, and cardiac interventions

This position is at a premier healthcare facility in Shreveport, LA, with a focus on cardiac and medical step-down care. The unit is staffed with a diverse team and offers a traveler-friendly environment. You will receive thorough orientation, support from resource nurses, and access to EMR systems including Meditech Expanse. The contract includes every other weekend work, major holiday coverage, and flexible time off with proper approval.
