Description: The unit accommodates 28 beds, with 4 fast-track areas and 2 trauma bays. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. The electronic medical record system utilized is Cerner. Charge Nurses do not take patient assignments. Nurse Aides are on duty each shift, performing technical duties. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Holiday shifts are incorporated into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy blue. Telemetry equipment is from GE. Ventilators are available for use. A Clientist and Intensivist are available onsite 24/7. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7. There is a call requirement of one day per month, which may increase based on the call schedule. Shifts are scheduled 12 hours, with day shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM and varied start times for mids and nights. Schedules are self-scheduled based on seniority and made out at least two weeks in advance. Floating positions do not exist for this role. Orientation will consist of 2 to 3 shifts focused on unit-specific training. The unit sees approximately 155 patients daily, handling a variety of cases including trauma, stroke, pediatric, and psychiatric patients. Candidates should have experience in a high-volume, high-acuity emergency room environment. Travel experience is preferred, particularly in Level II trauma centers or higher.
