Occupational Therapist

The District is accepting applications for Occupational Therapist. To be considered, the following must be furnished: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: master's degree in occupational therapy or related field and one year experience in a school setting. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Certification issued by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. Valid First Aid and CPR Certification issued by an authorized agency. Valid California driver's license. Summary: Under the direction of the Program Director, provide assessment and direct services related to sensory-motor development and other identified developmental needs; provide consultation related to sensory-motor development; provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services based upon individual student needs.

Knowledge and Skills: Requires knowledge of child growth and development, and the theory and practice of occupational therapy as applied to infants, children and youth. Incumbent must be familiar with special education law relative to occupational therapy services, the strategies and methodologies used in educational settings, and the common disabling conditions of children. Requires sufficient skill to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. Abilities: Requires the ability to administer appropriate assessments, interpret history and assessment data, and design and implement appropriate intervention strategies. Incumbent must be able to work effectively with parents, community and education colleagues, and function as a positive, contributing member on an educational team. Requires the ability to develop a schedule and manage time effectively. Must be able to assist in the management of the programs, interpret and implement rules relating to the programs, make policy decision, evaluate results, and make determinations relative to the effective performance of the tasks. Access to reliable transportation to and between assigned school sites during the day is required. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION Employment with the Pajaro Valley Unified School District is not complete or official until applicants meet all pre-employment requirements, including Board of Trustee approval. As part of the selection process, all new employees are required to provide the following information: new employees must be fingerprinted (paid by the District); TB test (paid by the employee); social security card; picture identification; and authorization to work (I-9). PAY DAYS: Permanent employees are paid on the last working day of each month. PROBATION AND SALARY POLICY: Classified positions have a one hundred and thirty days (130) probationary period. New employees typically start on the first step. Additional step increases occur yearly thereafter until the sixth salary step is achieved. Employees who work less than twelve (12) months per year and/or eight (8) hours per day should calculate their pay rate on an hourly basis and/or refer to hourly rates on the Occupational Therapist Salary Schedule.
