Overview Senior Associate, Data Scientist - Commercial Bank Strategy & Analytics. Data is at the center of everything we do. Capital One’s Commercial Bank Team manages a $100B+ loan portfolio across Corporate & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate, and Structured Finance Products. The team solves a diverse set of problems using a mix of business thinking and quantitative tools, including open source programming and cloud computing to predict outcomes on large datasets. Responsibilities Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love. Leverage a broad stack of technologies — Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more — to reveal insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data. Build machine learning models through all phases of development: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation. Translate complex technical work into tangible business goals and outcomes. Ideal Candidate Innovative: stays current on emerging technologies and seeks opportunities to apply state-of-the-art methods and tools. Creative: thrives on solving undefined problems and is willing to share new ideas. Technical: comfortable with open-source languages and experienced in developing data science solutions using open-source tools and cloud computing platforms. Statistically-minded: has built, validated, and backtested models; understands interpretations such as confusion matrices and ROC curves; experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning. A data guru: adept at retrieving, merging, and analyzing data from diverse sources and structures; emphasizes understanding the data as key to great data science. Qualifications Basic Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) plus 2 years of data analytics experience; or A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (or MBA with quantitative concentration) with relevant experience; and Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in STEM or PhD in STEM fields. Experience working with AWS. At least 2 years of experience in Python, machine learning, and SQL. Compensation and Benefits Capital One will consider sponsoring qualified applicants for employment authorization where applicable. The salary ranges are location-based: McLean, VA: $135,600 - $154,800 for Sr Assoc, Data Science; New York, NY: $148,000 - $168,900 for Sr Assoc, Data Science. Other locations receive the pay range associated with that location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated.
