Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Seeking experienced Registered Nurse for the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to manage higher acuity patients recovering from surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical care skills and the ability to respond swiftly to patient needs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor patients' vital signs, airway stability, and neurological status post-operatively.
• Manage complex cases involving ventilator weaning, vasoactive medications, and invasive monitoring.
• Recognize early signs of deterioration, including airway compromise, bleeding, or hemodynamic instability.
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgery, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient transitions and interventions.
• Document clinical findings, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge instructions, and potential complications.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with recent experience in PACU or ICU settings.
• Proven ability to manage high-acuity patients, including ventilator management and vasoactive drips.
• Strong knowledge of neuro assessments, airway management, and postoperative care protocols.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
• Ability to prioritize multiple high-risk patients efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork mentality.
