Harlem Hospital Center has been a bedrock of the Harlem community since 1887. The hospital provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights and Inwood. Harlem is the largest hospital in the area, capable of treating the most seriously ill. Harlem provides over 90 specialized ambulatory care services, dentistry and oral surgery, behavioral health services, and community substance abuse treatment.

Work Shifts 8:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M / 9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.M (21.5 hours , no weekends) Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position : Under supervision, performs professional optometric work in a municipal eye clinic. Performs related work.Examples of Typical Tasks :
1. Performs eye examinations for visual defects and does refractions by means of such instruments as the Ophthalmometer, Skiascope, Ophthalmoscope and Retinoscope.
2. Prescribes lenses, prisms or visual exercises to improve vision without use of medicine, drugs or surgery.
3. Refers patients having ocular manifestations of disease to an Ophthalmologist. Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
