Project Controls Specialist
We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support project management teams in the execution of complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects. The Staff Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for leading project controls processes and helping ensure project deliverables are completed within established budgets and schedules.
This position will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction, accounting, and other project stakeholders to develop and maintain effective project controls systems, schedules, cost reports, forecasts, cash flows, and performance measurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead project controls processes with the internal project management team to support project execution within budget and schedule.
- Set up projects in Enterprise Planning & Controls software and ensure accurate project data.
- Analyze project data, review logs, and run reports using Enterprise Planning & Controls software and other project controls tools.
- Create and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Develop, implement, and maintain scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flow reports, and forecasts for multiple projects.
- Follow established project execution plans and project controls procedures.
- Support engineering, procurement, and construction planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control activities.
- Serve as a point of contact for technical project controls questions from project team members.
- Review and approve Purchase Orders and/or Subcontracts for proper project coding.
- Input, document, and track changes to cost reports and forecasts.
- Interface with Project Management and Accounting teams to review project costs, contingency costs, and support external audits.
- Review upstream prime contract change orders and downstream purchase order and subcontract change orders.
- Develop and present project cash flow reports.
- Develop and maintain various levels of project schedules.
- Apply and review logic ties within project schedules.
- Monitor resource loading and utilization within project schedules.
- Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM).
- Create various schedule reports and determine the appropriate reporting format for project stakeholders.
- Develop, review, and analyze pre-programmed project scheduling reports and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Consult with project teams regarding schedule progress and performance.
- Analyze and evaluate schedule management using critical path method (CPM) scheduling techniques.
- Support estimating, project cost management, and forecasting activities.
- Perform schedule what-if scenarios and evaluate potential impacts to project execution.
- Develop and maintain an earned value management system.
- Input, validate, and track progress measurement data.
- Develop and maintain project progress curves.
- Perform material takeoffs as required.
- Perform quality checks and inspections on project controls deliverables.
- Conduct field audits to validate the accuracy of project reporting and processes.
- Assist with project forensic analysis as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of direct project controls experience required.
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost control, forecasting, earned value management, and project reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Contract-to-Hire Opportunity
