Candidate Requirements

We’re looking for someone who:

· Has a vibrant, mature relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated through a life of integrity, humility, and prayer.

· Holds a bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (a seminary degree is a big plus!).

· Brings 3-5 years of pastoral experience with a proven track record of growth or community impact.

· Aligns with our church’s doctrinal beliefs and is committed to faithfully preaching and teaching the Bible.

· Is ready to become a member of Rush City Baptist Church and make Rush City their home.

Candidate Characteristics

We’re searching for a Senior Pastor who:

· Has a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, living out the character described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.

· Has a heart for reaching the lost through evangelism, with a genuine ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

· Brings a visionary spirit and an entrepreneurial mindset, ready to lead with adaptability, strategic thinking, and a willingness to embrace change.

· Is personable, compassionate, and approachable, creating a welcoming church culture.

· Communicates with clarity and inspiration, bringing people together and guiding the church toward our shared mission.

· Prioritizes prayer, not just for themselves but for the entire church community.

· Loves people wholeheartedly, showing Christ-like care for their spiritual, emotional, and physical needs.

· Is passionate about discipling and mentoring others, especially when it comes to connecting with families, children, and youth.

Key Responsibilities
Preaching/Teaching

· Bring Scripture to life with sermons that are as engaging as they are rooted in truth. Make us laugh, make us cry, and above all, make us see Jesus more clearly.

· Lead Bible studies and discipleship adventures that help us dig deep into God’s Word and grow together.

Leadership & Vision Casting

· Vision : Help us seek God’s vision that’s as bold as the gospel and lead us in pursuing it together.

· Pastoral Staff : Lead, mentor, and oversee staff to ensure effective ministry.

· Lay Leadership : Identify and nurture gifted leaders within the church.

· Children and Youth : Prioritize support for our Awana program and Youth Group, ensuring their growth and effectiveness in reaching the next generation.

Care & Connection

· Walk alongside us in life’s joys and challenges. Whether it’s celebrating a new baby, comforting a grieving family, or offering a listening ear, your care will be impactful and lasting.

· Help us care for each other, too, by empowering our members to step into roles of discipleship and support.

Missions & Outreach

· Be a bridge-builder who helps us connect with the unchurched, the seeking, and the hurting. Create opportunities for us to show God’s love in practical, irresistible ways.

· Equip and encourage us to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond —and to invite people into our growing church family.

· Strengthen our Ukrainian sister church partnership by encouraging the church to communicate, pray, offer financial support, and if able the Senior Pastor would travel to Ukraine to strengthen the relationship in person.

Team Building & Stewardship

· Develop and nurture leaders who can help carry the torch as our church grows. Your encouragement and mentorship will light fires of faith in us all.

· Create a culture of joy-filled service where everyone feels valued, equipped, and excited to pitch in.

· Keep the wheels turning smoothly as we grow, from helping to manage budgets to ensuring our space is ready to welcome more people.

· Work with our team to dream about new ways to use our resources for God’s glory—and help us steward them wisely.

Benefits

T otal Cash Compensation

$75,000 – $95,000 annually

This range represents total annual cash compensation and includes:

• Base salary
  

• Designated housing allowance (in accordance with IRS guidelines)
  

• Health insurance stipend
  

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and family needs.
