As a Cardiac Sonographer I, you will play an important role in supporting timely diagnosis and treatment by performing comprehensive echocardiograms and related cardiac ultrasound studies for adult and/or pediatric patients in outpatient and hospital-based settings.

About the Role Following an orientation period, you will independently perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms and/or bubble studies while demonstrating foundational knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology within your assigned patient population. You will review clinical indications, acquire high-quality diagnostic images, prepare accurate preliminary findings, and collaborate with interpreting physicians and care teams to support safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.

What You'll Do

• Prepare exam rooms and ultrasound equipment in accordance with infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
• Review patient history, clinical indications, and prior reports or images to understand the purpose of each examination.
• Position patients appropriately and use ergonomic scanning techniques to support patient comfort, sonographer safety, and a positive patient and family experience.
• Perform comprehensive transthoracic echocardiograms independently within six months of hire, following department protocols and assigned patient population needs.
• Perform ultrasound contrast studies, agitated saline bubble studies, and complex portable studies when indicated.
• Acquire high-quality diagnostic images and recognize cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to the examination.
• Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate findings to the interpreting physician in a timely manner.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support activities necessary to maintain accreditation standards.
• Assist with scheduling and patient flow to support efficient departmental operations.
• Meet productivity and volume expectations as defined by department standards.
• Maintain patient privacy and comply with patient safety, departmental, hospital, and organizational policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
• Basic Life Support certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related field.

Pay Range: $29.81 - $45.36/Hourly
