Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to neonates ranging from 29 weeks gestation through term in a 21-bed NICU and 16-bed Special Care Nursery (SCN), maintaining ratios of 1:2 (NICU) and 1:3–4 (SCN)
• Perform and manage a broad range of clinical skills including developmental care, thermoregulation, phototherapy, sepsis workup, phlebotomy, and isolation/PPE protocols
• Manage lines and vascular access including A-lines, central/implanted lines, IV starts, UAC/UVC, and administer blood and blood products
• Administer and monitor neonatal medications including vasopressors, surfactants, anti-seizure agents, antibiotics/antivirals, steroids, and insulin with accurate neonatal dose calculations
• Provide respiratory support including bubble CPAP, HFNC, Vapotherm, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP/PEEP), chest tube care, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Float within skillset as needed to Newborn, Pediatrics, and PICU for appropriate assignments; work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and fulfill holiday requirements per unit needs

Required Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
• Required Certifications: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of current Level III or higher NICU experience (facility is Level IV but accepts Level III experience)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
• Must be available to work every other weekend and meet holiday shift obligations (1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs)
• Locals are welcome and accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PALS certification preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with jet ventilators, oscillators, ECMO, CritiCool therapeutic hypothermia, and neonatal transport reception preferred
• Experience with GI/nutrition support including NEC management, oral/NG/NJ tube placement, breastfeeding support, and gavage feedings
