Overview Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team on the McKinney location. This Full‑time position (Mon‑Fri, 8:30 am–5:00 pm) will support physicians and clinicians in a clinical oncology setting. Position Level The role is offered at three levels (Level 1, Level 2, or Senior) based on candidate experience. Job Summary Under direct supervision, the Certified Medical Assistant assists physicians and other clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Responsibilities include promoting efficient patient flow, performing clinic support tasks (such as clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physician schedules), and adhering to the U.S. Oncology Compliance Program. Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes. Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures. Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed. Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested. Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by an RN or physician. Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols. Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist. Handle prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN. Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows. Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician. May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision. Qualifications Level 1 High school graduate or equivalent. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. 0‑3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Some state regulations may require specific certifications for medical assistants. Level 2 Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. Level Sr Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting. Current CPR certification required. Physical Demands The physical demands of this position include full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs. Work Environment The work environment is typical of an oncology/hematology clinic.
