Job Summary

Th e Mechanical Engineer will support the Research and Development organization in the design, development, testing, improvement, and sustaining engineering of innovative water treatment products and technologies. This role works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Sales, Product Management, vendors, and other cross-functional teams to execute the product roadmap and support new product innovation, value engineering, sustaining engineering, and product improvement initiatives.

Job Description

• Support mechanical part design, material selection, engineering analysis, and design documentation.
• Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and engineering documentation.
  
• Contribute to product design, development, testing, validation, and qualification activities.
  
• Design and evaluate components, assemblies, materials, and manufacturing approaches.
  
• Research and qualify new materials and components for product applications.
  
• Develop and execute engineering test plans and document test procedures and results.
  
• Collect, analyze, and communicate engineering and test data in a timely manner.
  
• Lead or support product troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause investigations.
  
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality teams to investigate product performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  
• Optimize product designs for cost, manufacturability, reliability, performance, and quality.
  
• Support product installation, start-up, field testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities as needed.
  
• Manage projects or sub-projects, including schedules, budgets, deliverables, and cross-functional coordination.
  
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians regarding priorities, workload, and technical problem-solving.
  
• Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test plans, technical reports, and other engineering documentation.
  
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  
• Prepare, process, and resolve Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  
• Support continuous improvement and sustaining engineering activities for existing products.
  
• Collaborate with Product Management to execute against product roadmaps and support growth through new product development and product improvements.
  
• Work effectively with internal teams, suppliers, vendors, and other external partners.
  
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a safety-first mindset.
• Shift: M-F 9-5 with some flexibility of working OT

Skills Required

• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, research and development, or a related engineering capacity.
• Hands-on experience working in a research and development environment.
• Experience with mechanical design, component selection, testing, and engineering documentation.
• Experience with piping, plumbing, and/or water treatment technologies.
• Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and engineering change processes.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD, part design, and engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, sales, and other functions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new software and systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet project deadlines.
• Willingness to perform hands-on laboratory and engineering work.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
• 5–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering or R&D.
• Background in water treatment, water technologies, or electrochemistry.
• Experience with electro-membrane separation technologies used in water treatment applications.
• Experience with electrochemical technologies for the removal of specific contaminants from water.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
• Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and cross-functional project execution.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary engineering organization.
• Experience with product validation, qualification, failure analysis, and root cause investigation.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, quality, and production environments.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Pay Rate

• $33 - $41 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
