Interventional Rad Technologist - VASCULAR

Job Description Summary Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Cardiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique. Arrhythmia (EP) Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Electrophysiologist for non‑invasive and invasive procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X‑ray equipment, arrhythmia monitoring, cardiac structures, anatomy of the heart chambers, and sterile technique. Vascular Interventional (VIR) Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image‑guided vascular procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound. Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Neuro Interventional Radiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X‑ray equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral angiogram coiling, arteriovenous malformations, stroke interventions and sterile technique. Responsibilities and Duties 85% Assist the Interventionalist in the area described above. 10% Greet patients upon arrival, check chart for required data (e.g., informed consent), report absences or abnormalities to RN/physician, explain procedures, give instructions and answer questions, participate in room turnover, and transport patients. 5% Assist the Radiation Safety Officer in QA of labs and radiation protective apparel regularly; perform tasks using radiation safety principles; check lead aprons for tears; report findings and remove inadequate gear; maintain accurate records or work with Radiology department to maintain records.
