Position (Open Rank) Professor, Neurology, and Residency Program Director About the Role This full‑time position includes responsibility for the operation of one of CUSM's two affiliated neurology residency programs while maintaining active clinical practice. Key Responsibilities Serve as Clinical Faculty: outpatient and/or inpatient neurology in any subspecialty or general neurology. Advance education, research, and clinical missions of the academic medical center in all areas of Clinical Neurology. Teach in the MD program (third‑year neurology clerkship, fourth‑year neurology sub‑internship, elective rotations, and pre‑clerkship curriculum). Teach residents at both of CUSM's affiliated neurology residency programs. Facilitate and support the training of future physicians and neurologists, championing continuous improvement. Advise students in pre‑clinical and clinical years. Engage in and foster clinical research, including investigator‑initiated or industry‑sponsored clinical trials. Serve on committees, study sections, and review groups; commit to service within the community. Design, conduct, and oversee the residency program in compliance with ACGME and ARMC requirements, ensuring a high‑quality educational environment across all competency domains. Recruit, select, evaluate, and oversee residents and program faculty. Ensure a safe, professional learning environment with confidential reporting and anti‑retaliation safeguards. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, due process, non‑discrimination, and grievance procedures. Submit accurate and timely data to ARMC leadership, DIO, GMEC, and ACGME; obtain required approvals before submissions. Verify completion of training for graduating residents in a timely manner. Serve as a professional role model and uphold the mission of the program and sponsoring institution. Required Educational Qualifications MD or DO degree with specialty board certification and active medical license in California. Completion of an ACGME‑accredited neurology residency. Fellowship training is preferred. At least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the ACGME Neurology Residency Review Committee. Skills and Abilities Clinical experience in healthcare or emergency medical fields. Familiarity with regional standards of care. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Analytical skills to define problems and develop solutions. Strong communication and teaching skills. Ability to work independently and meet defined goals. Expertise in writing, speaking, presenting, and listening; collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset. Prioritization and deadline management skills. Organizational and multitasking abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with LCME accreditation process and requirements. Experience in higher education, medical education, or university environment. Familiarity with FERPA regulations.
