Research Nurse Coordinator, Lead

Location Omaha, NE Position Summary This position is a leadership role within the Pediatric Research Office at the Child Health Research Institute (CHRI). The Lead Study Coordinator will oversee daily operations and staff, serving as the primary coordinator on advanced and complex clinical trials. As a coordinator, the individual will bring extensive experience in conducting and managing clinical research studies. Responsibilities include critical coordination, management of complex decisions and regulatory requirements for each research protocol, and facilitation of UNMC and CHRI's research mission. Required Qualifications Education: Relevant coursework or specialized training in Nursing. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a patient facility or clinical setting, including management of diverse research protocols in both inpatient and outpatient settings. License: Current Nebraska RN license or eligibility for licensure. Computer Applications: Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, techniques, and practices. Ability to perform physical assessments and patient teaching as appropriate to the research protocol. Knowledge of clinical trials and chart review. Flexibility in work hours to manage patient and study protocol workload. Reliable verbal and written communication skills. Ability to train, evaluate, and monitor other clinical research staff within the Pediatric Research Office. Ability to prioritize and make independent clinical judgments. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, accountability, teamwork, and self‑initiative. Computer literacy; willingness to learn word processing, database, and statistical software programs. Effective collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Knowledge and skill in addressing age‑specific needs of patients served (birth and above). Demonstration of behaviors that foster a positive team environment, promote diversity, apply continuous quality improvement principles, and strive to meet customer requirements while developing personal action plans for professional growth. Flexibility to assume new duties as the role evolves, maintaining accountability for assigned tasks. Accurate and precise data entry to ensure research results are free of errors. Preferred Qualifications Education: Nursing degree. Experience: Pediatric background with clinical trials coordination. Proven leadership of supervisory teams. Strong background in leading Phase 2/Phase 3 clinical trials or similar. Prior project management experience, especially with federal grants and industry‑sponsored trials. Computer Applications: Microsoft Outlook. Other Computer Applications: RedCap and Clinical Trial Management System. Clinical research certification within one year of starting the position (ACRP, SOCRA, or similar). Knowledge of healthcare financial environment and reimbursement systems. Direct responsibility to the physician as a physician extender from initial patient contact through follow‑up care; accountable for complex decisions impacting patient care and trial implementation. Skillful monitoring of patient care and treatment, protocol regulations, and education of patients, families, and healthcare teams. Expert interpretation, accurate recording, and reliable data management to support research conclusions.
