Registered Nurse Position
Utilizing the nursing process, responsibility for providing for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital and regulatory agencies.

Essential functions include:
- Accurately assesses patients' needs.
- Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status.
- Utilizes Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
- Performs point of care testing.
- Communicates findings effectively to members of the healthcare team.
- Documentation reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients' response to treatment interventions.
- Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situation.
- Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients.
- Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs.
- Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals.
- Provides and implements nursing care interventions.
- Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients.
- Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning.
- Reviews physician orders in a timely manner.
- Promotes interventions that provide the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery oriented goals.
- Participates in leading patient groups.
- Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
- Accurately communicates patients' clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports.
- Utilizes evidence based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions.
- Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care.
- Provides direction and supervision of MHSs.
- Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event.
- Anticipates acute milieu problems and delegates staff appropriately.
- Participates in the training and education of RNs, MHSs, and other healthcare providers.
- Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others.
- Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency.
- Completes mandatory in-service requirements.
- Maintains competency for treating patient population.
- Seeks constructive feedback regarding work performance from peers and professional colleagues.
- Identifies strengths and areas for professional/practice development with supervisor.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicates positively, supportively, and with courtesy to the patients and staff.

- Notifies shift coordinator/charge nurse of availability for additional assignments.
Qualifications:
Education: Other Certificate/Diploma Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
Licenses and Credentials: Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
Experience: No experience required; one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred 0-1 year preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, ability to utilize the nursing process and to work collaboratively.
