Open-Rank Professor of History

The Center for Economics, Politics & History at the University of Austin invites applications for a full‑time professor of history (any rank) to begin as early as Summer 2026. Applicants should have a strong interest in teaching undergraduate history and research, and hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (or have a degree conferred by the start date). The university seeks a scholar capable of teaching a sequence in American history, with expertise in political, economic, and military history and an applied focus on the United States. Responsibilities Teach a full load of six quarter‑length courses per year (typically two per term) and contribute to the development of undergraduate syllabi for core courses. Participate actively in faculty meetings, guest lectures, and campus events to sustain and enrich the intellectual life of the university. Mentor students with interests in economics and the social sciences, guiding their academic development and future plans. Qualifications Ph.D. in History (or a closely related field) with a special interest in applied or American history. Demonstrated teaching excellence. Strong commitment to UATX’s mission of free inquiry, open debate, and intellectual diversity. U.S. citizenship or approved visa to work full time in the United States.
