Basketball Instructor

Description Nook Basketball Instructors will be responsible for the positive development of athletes within the Nook Basketball Department. This role will guide players which range in grades from 2nd to 12th grade. This position is located within the Spooky Nook Sports complex with evenings and some weekends required. The position will require a commitment of flexibility in scheduling and willingness to grow as a coach. Basketball programming would include working camps/clinics/group instructions/private lessons. NOTE : Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment: PA State Police criminal history record, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance. You must possess the “Employment” versions of each clearance and not the “Volunteer” versions. Discounts at participating local restaurants and businesses Essential Job Functions Teach variety of skills related to basketball including, but not limited to, dribbling, passing and shooting Design and teach set plays both for offense and defense Inform players of the rules and regulations set forth by USA Basketball Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all athletes Teach and ensure sportsmanship is continually present amongst our athletes Ensure the safety of all players by following facility rules Follow practice plans and make sure communication to players is concise Follow coaching procedures and policies set forth in the coaches handbook All other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications Prior coaching experience in Basketball preferred USA Basketball License preferred Exceptional communication skills Must be 18 years of age or older Dependable transportation to and from work Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed Authorized to work in the United States Highly dependable with a history of consistent attendance and punctuality Brings integrity to every interaction, takes initiative to jump in where needed, lifts up teammates to win together, and creates an environment where positivity and kindness shape every guest experience. Working Conditions Physical requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be regularly required to perform physical activity that includes moving about the work area, standing, sitting, bending, reaching with hands and arms, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and smelling. The team member will be frequently required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. He or she is required to have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Must be physically capable of demonstrating skills during practice that relate to the sport, such as running and jumping. Lifting requirements: The team member will be required to lift, push, pull, lower and/or move up to 10 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
