Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring an RN for the Emergency Department.

Hours/Shift: Full Time (36 hr/week), Evenings 3p-3a

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice along with the standards of professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

The ED welcomes experienced nurses moving into this specialty. The 20-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Emergency nursing areas.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• ACLS & PALS or ENPC within 1 year of hire

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg nursing

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 274-bed acute care facility that opened in 1903 and relocated to its present site in 1977. Our hospital completed a renovation in 2016, including two new patient towers, a beautiful atrium, and a multi-story parking garage.
