Senior Network Automation Engineer

Job Summary
We're looking for a senior Network Engineer with strong hands-on experience in enterprise network design and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will have CCNP-level networking knowledge, strong Layer 2/Layer 3 design experience, and a proven track record of automating network provisioning, configuration, upgrades, or large-scale infrastructure refreshes.




This role is focused on modernizing network infrastructure, improving stability, and using automation to make network changes and deployments faster and more reliable.







Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across data center, remote site, and edge environments.
• Work with Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, switching, routing, and network architecture.
• Automate network provisioning, configuration, software upgrades, device refreshes, and infrastructure workflows.
• Develop automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
• Integrate network automation with infrastructure platforms using REST APIs, including CMDB-related integrations.
• Troubleshoot network and deployment issues during infrastructure changes, migrations, and refresh projects.
• Support large-scale network modernization and hardware/software refresh initiatives.
• Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to develop scalable and reliable solutions.
• Explore Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and AI-assisted development tools to improve automation workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

1. Strong senior-level network engineering background; approximately 8 10+ years of relevant experience.
2. CCNP-level networking knowledge; CCNP certification preferred. Strong CCNA candidates with equivalent hands-on experience may also be considered.
3. Strong Layer 2/Layer 3 design and enterprise switching/routing experience.
4. Experience with data center, enterprise, remote site, MDF/IDF, or edge network environments.
5. Hands-on network automation experience using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or comparable frameworks.
6. Experience using REST APIs for infrastructure automation and system integrations - Preference.
7. Experience with large-scale network refresh, migration, provisioning, or modernization projects - Preference.
8. Strong troubleshooting and network design skills.
9. Good communication skills and ability to work through enterprise change-management processes - Preference.
10. Exposure to AI-assisted development or Spec-Driven Development (SDD) is a plus.

Best-Fit Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior network engineer with roughly 10 years of real infrastructure experience, CCNP-level knowledge, strong Layer 2/Layer 3 design skills, and hands-on automation experience tied to network provisioning, refreshes, or infrastructure modernization. They should be comfortable with Python, Ansible, Terraform, APIs, or comparable tools, and open to using AI-assisted/spec-driven development methods.







Acceptable Candidate
A strong CCNA-level candidate may be acceptable if they have deep practical networking experience, meaningful automation experience, and can clearly demonstrate that they have designed, deployed, or refreshed enterprise network infrastructure. Manager said CCNA can be a starting point if the candidate checks the other boxes.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a network engineer first and automation engineer second. They should understand enterprise networking deeply enough to design and troubleshoot infrastructure independently, while also being able to automate repetitive network tasks and large-scale deployments using Python, Ansible, Terraform, APIs, or similar technologies.
