Nature Of Work

Provides a variety of assessment, education, training, treatment and related services for offenders and families of offenders participating in the Drug Court program, and other programs within the court system.

Examples Of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

Reviews, assesses, recommends and implements individualized drug and alcohol screening and treatment programs for offenders participating in Drug Court; assesses new and relapsing clients for program admission or termination; oversees, undertakes and performs a variety of psychological and physical tests; identifies, recommends, develops and implements general to specific education and training programs and curriculum; provides client case management services; provides emergency intervention as needed; reviews, edits, and distributes reports; works with treatment providers and outside agencies; resolves administrative issues with outside agencies. Maintains case files and treatment charts, and documents all encounters and issues to be resolved; meets with peers to discuss case management issues; establishes, facilitates and leads group counseling, education, training and related programs; develops, presents and provides drug and alcohol education and training materials and programs; works with the offender, family members and others; recommends continuation in or exclusion from Drug Court program; compiles, maintains and updates a variety of general to specific statistical reports and records, regarding individual offender, family and related participant information; develops and presents regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports, presentations and related activities; identifies and accesses community resources and services; serves as an advocate and counselor; establishes, participates in, attends and facilitates special programs and recognition activities; works with counselors, advocates, service providers and others; assists and collaborates with other counselors; provides individual, family and group counseling to other programs within the court system; performs related duties as required or assigned; regular and reliable attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Experience & Education Candidate must obtain LASAC; LISAC or LAC Licensure from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AzBBHE) within the first year of employment. (See requirements below) Preference will be given to Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselors (LISAC); Licensed Associate Counselors (LAC); or Licensed Associate Substance Abuse Counselors (LASAC) with a Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Sciences; consideration will be given to applicant's years of progressively responsible work experience involving drug treatment, substance abuse treatment, counseling or closely related duties. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
