Acute Care Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Schedule

This is a 13-week contract position with 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM, including every other weekend.

Job Description

The Acute Care Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive care for a variety of patients on a 32-bed unit currently operating at 20 beds due to staffing levels. This nurse will work alongside LPNs, ensuring that patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with common diagnoses such as COPD, CHF, pneumonia, abdominal pain, pancreatitis, and post-operative surgical care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Utilize Epic for patient documentation and charting.
• Participate in unit orientation and training programs.
• Assist in performing nursing tasks and procedures as needed, including managing equipment such as CPAP and BiPAP.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must possess a valid RN license.
• BLS and NIHSS certification are required; ACLS and PALS are recommended but not mandatory.
• Strong background in medical-surgical nursing is essential due to the unit's diverse patient population.
