Community Content Creator (Contract)

We are creators of the hit survival-fantasy franchise State of Decay with a fan base of over 10 million players. Undead Labs is seeking a contract Community Content Creator to help bring the State of Decay universe, our developers, and our player community together across digital platforms. This role is for a creative, self-directed storyteller who loves games, knows the State of Decay franchise, and thrives in fast-moving social and streaming environments.

The Community Content Creator will collaborate closely with game developers and Marketing partners to create authentic, engaging content from both inside the game and around the studio. Staying closely connected to current tools, formats, and trends, this role will help shape how the State of Decay franchise shows up to players and how the community connects with the team behind it.

This is a high-impact and high-visibility role, where you will work with autonomy with the most senior people in the studio. This position will work on-site in Seattle, WA, and will be expected to be in the office five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Capture high‑quality gameplay footage for use in trailers, dev diaries, and social content


• Film and edit B‑roll from our studios to highlight culture, development processes, and behind‑the‑scenes moments


• Produce, edit, and deliver polished video content optimized for multiple platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and emerging channels


• Support the planning and technical execution of live streams, including scene setup, overlays, audio, and broadcast flow


• Collaborate with the development team as well as internal and external marketing partners to identify compelling stories and moments worth sharing with the community


• Create and maintain a content calendar that aligns with marketing beats and community engagement goals

Qualifications

• Able to submit a portfolio or reel demonstrating video work, gameplay capture, and social content


• Strong familiarity with the State of Decay franchise


• Demonstrated experience capturing gameplay footage and editing video content, both long and short form


• Proficiency with modern video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut)


• Experience with live stream production tools (e.g., OBS, Streamlabs, vMix)


• Ability to operate cameras, lights, and audio equipment for in-studio cinematography


• Strong communication skills and comfort working collaboratively across disciplines


• Fluency in current social content formats, tools, and trends (short-form video, platform-native features, creator workflows) 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing short‑form digital content strategies for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels


• Comfort serving as an on‑camera or live‑stream host or MC for developer livestreams, including guiding conversations and engaging live audiences


• Understanding of community‑driven storytelling and player‑focused content

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $43 - $50 per hour.

The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base range will depend on various factors, such as complexity and responsibility of the role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
