Job Description Senior Mortgage Underwriter
Indianapolis, Central $33-50 per hour We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our lending team. This role is responsible for reviewing and evaluating residential mortgage loan applications, ensuring they meet investor and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate has strong experience underwriting VA and USDA loans, along with conventional and government-backed mortgage products. Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for reviewing and evaluating residential mortgage loan applications, ensuring they meet investor and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate has strong experience underwriting VA and USDA loans, along with conventional and government-backed mortgage products. Responsibilities:
- Review and underwrite residential mortgage loan applications.
- Evaluate credit, income, assets, appraisals, and supporting loan documentation.
- Underwrite and approve or decline loans within assigned lending authority.
- Utilize DU (Desktop Underwriter) and LP (Loan Product Advisor) automated underwriting systems.
- Perform detailed appraisal reviews and validate loan data for accuracy.
- Ensure loans meet FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, portfolio, and other investor guidelines.
- Meet established turnaround time expectations while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Stay current on underwriting guidelines, products, and industry regulations.
- Previous mortgage underwriting experience required.
- Strong experience underwriting VA and USDA loans is required.
- Experience with FHA, Conventional, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Portfolio loan products.
- Proficiency with DU and LP automated underwriting systems.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to review complex financial documentation and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment.
