Job DescriptionLocation: St. John Hospital - Detroit
Department: Kidney Transplant
Schedule: 40 hrs/week, EXEMPT, 7:30am-4:00pm, no weekends, no holidays
What You Will Do
- Kidney transplant patient assessment and counseling
- Assesses patients for nutritional status to determine if they qualify for organ transplant.
- Provides interventions/treatments throughout patients transplant journey including diet assessment, weight loss advising, diabetes education and food hygiene practices.
- All potential transplant recipients are required by CMS to be seen by a transplant dietitian in the pre-transplant, hospital, and post-transplant phases of the transplant process.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and ancillary services.
- Monitor patient tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimens, recommending adjustments as needed.
- Provide nutrition information to the community through public speaking, news releases, and publications.
- Research and resolve nutrition care-related complaints and problems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred
- Bachelors in Dietetics
- 2+ years' experience preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED
- Dietitian credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required .
- Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association
