The Part-Time Lab Assistant supports the Pharmacy Technician Program by assisting instructors in laboratory sessions, maintaining lab equipment and supplies, and ensuring a safe, clean, and productive learning environment for students. This individual plays a critical role in helping students develop hands-on skills aligned with industry standards and program outcomes. OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS Instructional Support:
• Assist faculty during lab sessions with student demonstrations, skill check-offs, and supervision of hands-on activities.
• Provide guidance to students as they practice technical skills such as:
• Prescription filling
• Compounding (non-sterile/sterile, as applicable)
• Inventory management
• Labeling and packaging medications
• Reinforce classroom instruction with real-world techniques and safety practices. Lab Maintenance & Operations:
• Prepare lab materials and equipment before each session.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of lab areas.
• Ensure proper storage and disposal of expired or used materials.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Program Director. Compliance & Safety:
• Follow all institutional policies and pharmacy regulations related to lab operations.
• Ensure students adhere to safety protocols
• Maintain documentation for lab activities as required by accreditation or institutional standards. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacy experience (retail, hospital, or compounding).
• Strong understanding of pharmacy practice standards and regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work collaboratively with instructors and students.
• Strong commitment to student learning and professional development.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (e.g., lab supplies).
