Job Title: PACU RN - Inpatient Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Duration: 18 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, with Level 1 trauma and telemetry experience License: Active RN license Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day). No RQI certifications accepted. Pre/Post Cath lab and Pre/Post IR procedure experience required. Must be willing to float to the Holding area in the PACU department. Clinical experience in a Level 1 trauma center is required. First-time travelers accepted upon screening. Description: The position requires PACU RNs to float to the holding area in the PACU department. Nurse-to-patient ratios in this area can be 1:3-5. These patients are equivalent to inpatient floor assignments. Dysrhythmia recognition and management skills are necessary. The facility serves a diverse patient population, including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Services provided include general surgery, ENT, robotic procedures, open heart, kidney transplant, ortho, neuro, urology, endoscopy, ECTs, and wound care. Candidates will be expected to provide care for ventilated patients. The average daily census is 35+ cases. The facility does not accept local candidates within a 100-mile radius. The position includes 1-2 on-call overnight shifts monthly. Pre-approved time off requests greater than 7 days need prior approval. Candidates should be prepared to work one weekend shift per month. Travelers with limited to no pediatric experience will be considered. Successful candidates must have a willingness to perform pre-op duties. Additional interdisciplinary support services are available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy.
