Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of PICU experience with 1 year of cardiac experience and an active NJ or compact RN license.

Details

• 19-bed CVPICU treating infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or higher, varying with census and acuity
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to Pediatrics and NICU as needed within skillset
• Navy blue scrubs required
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required, NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of PICU critical care experience with at least 1 year of cardiac experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with congenital heart disease/repair, CT patient care, Glenn and Fontan procedures, cardiac catheterization, ablations, and cardiac transplant care
• Skilled in ventilator management, airway care, chest tube assistance, and ETCO2 monitoring
• Proficient in IV therapy including port access, central line care, PICC management, and TPN/lipids administration
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
• Skilled in pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
• Experience with peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, and lumbar puncture assistance
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric cardiac patients including pre- and post-surgical care
• Work within a Pediatric Critical Care Center offering ECMO, nitric oxide, and VAD support for complex heart disease
• Part of a Children's Hospital with 30+ subspecialties and a dedicated Children's Heart Center
• Holiday coverage required for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former health system employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
