Job Title: Assistant Teacher (Part-Time)
About Us
Church preschool dedicated to nurturing the hearts and minds of young children. We provide a Christ-centered environment where children can grow spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking a loving, energetic, and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team in guiding our littlest learners.
Job Overview
- Position Type: Part-Time
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
- Reports To: Preschool Director / Lead Classroom Teacher
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher and co-assistant in implementing daily lessons, activities, and routines that align with our faith-based curriculum.
- Spiritual Nurture: Model loving values, lead children in simple prayers (such as before snack time), and help in implementing lessons and activities.
- Child Safety & Supervision: Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy classroom environment. Keep a watchful eye on children during indoor play, outdoor recess, and transitions.
- Daily Care: Assist children with basic needs, including restroom breaks, diapering, and meal/snack times.
- Team Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with the Lead Teacher and co-assistant to manage classroom behavior using positive, loving guidance.
- Parent Communication: Help maintain a welcoming atmosphere for families and assist with daily updates to parents as needed.
Qualifications & Requirement
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children (preschool, daycare, Sunday school, or babysitting) is highly preferred.
- Education: Undergraduate College degree (courses in Early Childhood Education are a plus).
- Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, flexibility, and a warm, positive attitude.
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit on the floor, bend, squatted to a child's eye level, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check and fulfill state/church/diocesan safety training requirements.
