Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is recruiting for an academic surgical pathologist with expertise in ENT and endocrine (specifically thyroid) pathology. The successful candidate will have additional opportunities in genitourinary or other areas of surgical pathology depending on skills and interest. The laboratory processes greater than 60,000 surgical specimens per year. In addition, the appointee will be given the opportunity to work closely with multi-specialty UW Comprehensive Cancer Center groups on collaborative clinical and translational research projects and to teach a variety of learners. The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer and transplantation, and with an actively funded SPORE program in head and neck cancer.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • The academic ENT Pathologist will sign out ENT and endocrine (thyroid) pathology cases and contribute to our teaching mission.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Opportunities in education include a T32-funded PhD graduate program, pathology resident and fellowship programs, and both medical school and undergraduate curricula.

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.


Negotiable, 12 month

Required Qualifications:
  • Surgical Pathology subspecialty fellowship training in or greater than three years of sign-out experience in ENT or endocrine pathology is required.
  • Unrestricted WI Medical License required by start date.
  • Board eligible or board certified in anatomic pathology (AP) or combination of anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
Preferred Qualifications:

• For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
