This role involves assessing patient health, delivering prescribed infusion treatments, administering infusion treatments, monitoring for complications, and educating patients and families. The Infusion RN collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The position requires strong clinical skills in infusion therapy, critical thinking abilities, excellent communication, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and professional ethics.Essential Work Functions:Educate patients and families about infusion procedures, addressing questions to alleviate concerns and ensure understandingAdminister prescribed medications and infusion treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniquesPrepare and calibrate infusion equipment ensuring proper functionality and safetyMonitor patients during infusion therapy, assessing vital signs, detecting deviations, and responding promptly to adverse reactionsDocument patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the medical recordCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plansFloat among clinical areas, providing specialized infusion care across various healthcare settingsAdhere to infection control and safety protocols, including OSHA and CDC guidelines, to minimize risksFloat among various clinical services where qualified and competent in infusion therapyStay informed about advancements in infusion therapy techniques and technologies through continuing educationPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
