Day Porter / CustodianAcademies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing public charter schools dedicated to academic excellence and providing safe, supportive learning environments for students in historically underserved communities.AMS is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Day Porter / Custodian to support the daily operations of our campus. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates professionalism, and thrives in a fast-paced educational environment.Facility Cleaning & MaintenanceMonitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the campus during the school day.Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and other surfaces.Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from indoor and outdoor areas.Clean windows, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.Launder custodial materials such as towels and mop heads.Daily Operations SupportMaintain adequate inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment.Assist with cafeteria setup, school events, and operational needs as assigned.Perform minor maintenance tasks, including light bulb replacement and basic facility upkeep.Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.Apply floor waxes, finishes, and sealants as directed.Safety & ComplianceFollow all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements and chemical handling procedures.Maintain compliance with campus safety standards and HAZMAT regulations.Assist with securing campus facilities, including locking and unlocking designated areas.Promptly address safety concerns and report facility issues.Communication & CollaborationCommunicate custodial supply needs and maintenance concerns to campus leadership.Interact professionally with students, families, staff, and visitors.Respond promptly to facility requests and operational needs.Perform additional duties as assigned to support school operations.RequiredHigh school diploma or GED.Minimum of two (2) years of custodial, facilities, maintenance, or related experience.Knowledge of custodial procedures, cleaning equipment, and safe chemical handling practices.Ability to operate custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.PreferredExperience working in a school, educational, or public facility setting.Experience supporting large facilities or high-traffic environments.Skills & AttributesStrong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.Reliable, proactive, and responsive work ethic.Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing needs.Professional demeanor and positive attitude.Commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay based on experience.401(k) retirement plan with 4% employer match.Medical, dental, life, and disability insurance.Optional vision coverage.Paid sick leave and personal time.Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.Why Join AMSMission-driven work supporting student success and educational equity.Collaborative and supportive school culture.Opportunities for professional growth within a growing charter school network.Meaningful work that directly impacts the learning environment and student experience.Join us to enjoy rewarding challenges and ongoing opportunities!
