Patient Access Liaison

Position Overview The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) serves as the primary field-based patient support representative for Palvella's Patient Support Program. The PAL partners with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, specialty pharmacies, and internal stakeholders to provide non-promotional, non-medical education and support throughout the patient journey. The PAL is responsible for helping patients navigate insurance coverage, prior authorization, appeals, financial assistance resources, specialty pharmacy coordination, and treatment initiation while delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role builds trusted relationships with both Centers of Excellence and community providers to ensure patients receive timely access to therapy and ongoing support throughout treatment. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in rare disease patient services, reimbursement, specialty pharmacy operations, and relationship management, with a passion for improving patient outcomes through education and advocacy. Serve as the primary patient support contact and provide non-medical education throughout the treatment journey. Guide patients and caregivers through insurance, treatment expectations, refills, and available support resources. Identify access barriers, coordinate resources, and promote adherence through proactive follow-up. Patient Access & Pharmacy Support Partner with providers and specialty pharmacies to facilitate timely patient access. Educate offices on prior authorization, appeals, coverage requirements, and financial support programs. Collaborate closely with specialty pharmacy partners to facilitate timely prescription processing. Monitor patient progress, resolve access barriers, and communicate updates compliantly. Communicate appropriately with internal stakeholders regarding patient progression while maintaining patient confidentiality. CRF Documentation & Case Management Maintain accurate, timely documentation and workflow activities within the Patient Services CRM. Track patient milestones, access barriers, follow-up, and reporting while ensuring data integrity. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with Market Access, Sales, Medical Affairs, HUB Operations, Specialty Pharmacy, and Advocacy teams to optimize the patient experience. Share field insights, support launch readiness, continuous improvement, training, meetings, and special projects. Compliance & Quality Conduct all activities in compliance with HIPAA, FDA regulations, company policies, and applicable state and federal laws. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Report adverse events and product complaints according to company policy. Complete required compliance training and documentation. Adhere to all promotional and non-promotional guidelines. Maintain patient confidentiality, report adverse events/product complaints, and complete required compliance training. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or specialty pharmacy experience. Minimum 3 years of field-based Patient Services, Field Reimbursement, Account Management, or Patient Access experience. Rare disease, specialty pharmaceutical, or biotechnology experience required. Experience supporting patients through reimbursement and specialty pharmacy distribution required. Strong understanding of commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursement processes. Knowledge of prior authorization, appeals, specialty pharmacy operations, and financial assistance programs. Excellent relationship-building and communication skills. Strong organizational and case management abilities. Ability to work independently within a geographically assigned territory. Excellent presentation and educational facilitation skills. Ability to prioritize multiple patients and provider accounts simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. High level of professionalism, empathy, and customer service orientation. Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Commitment to delivering a patient first experience. Preferred Experience working directly with healthcare providers and patient support programs preferred. CRM experience (Salesforce, Mavens, Veeva, or similar) preferred. This position requires approximately 40% - 60% travel within assigned geography as well as overnight travel as business needs require. Salary Range: $220,000 - $250,000 Annually Actual salary may vary and will be commensurate with level of experience.
