The Government Training Engineering (GTE) organization is seeking a customer instructional systems designer to support Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance / Phantom Works programs. In this role, you will collaborate with pilots and maintainers of high‑performance 4th and 5th generation fighter aircraft to design and develop engaging courses, curricula, and training modules using instructional design models, theories, and multimedia tools to achieve specific learning objectives. You will lead the creation and delivery of innovative technical learning solutions tailored to our platforms and contracts. You will work primarily with the Air Dominance CD&I team and may also assist with other aircraft and platform contracts. The position is 100% onsite at our Maryland Heights or Hazelwood, MO facility. Position Responsibilities Identify, design, and conduct relevant analyses to determine training needs, assess competencies, evaluate technology and media options, and measure fidelity and quality. Research information for new products when source information and data are incomplete or unavailable. Work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment. Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and stakeholders to gather content, ensure technical accuracy, and conduct design reviews, reconcile quality and contractual requirements, and meet customer expectations. Lead and conduct customer and stakeholder conversations, meetings, product reviews, and expectation management. Report on business impacts that may arise during development or maintenance of training and courseware. Develop and access new instructional strategies, methods, technologies, and tools related to instructional design, development, and delivery. Create style guides for subject matter experts and media guides for graphic artists, developers, and programmers used in courseware and media development. Basic Qualifications Experience with instructing and/or training on military platforms or writing and editing training materials and courseware. Familiarity with training program analysis, design, and development processes. Self‑starter with the ability to work independently. Effective liaison between business stakeholders and subject matter experts, exceptional customer service skills, ability to handle ambiguity and change, and strong influence without authority and collaboration skills. 3+ years of experience in project management; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of higher education and/or related work experience. Experience working on defense programs with military customers. High level of skill in Microsoft Office applications. Experience designing in platforms such as Storyline, Articulate, and Captivate. Experience with LMS platforms like Moodle and Cornerstone on Demand. Experience with legal contracts, copyright laws, export and import controls. Experience with Agile, Lean, and/or Six Sigma. Experience working with engineering documents. Experience creating contract data requirement lists (CDRLs) for government programs.
