The 2nd Shift Finishing Operator is focused on setup and operation of commercial label inspector machines to include visual quality control. They will operate equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width. This position reports to the Finishing Supervisor. Pay Rate: $18.00-$20.00/hour plus $1.00/hour shift differential Schedule: 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday, 2:30PM-1:00AM, with occasional overtimeResponsibilities:Receives job assignments from Finishing Supervisor or Team Lead; reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for jobReviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressedInspect products to ensure quality integrity and package productsObserves flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and windingEnsure quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shippedAssist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobsPerform preventative maintenance on machinesRemove or replace blades on inspection machinesCompletes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customerKeeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standardsKey Characteristics we are looking for:Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to read a rulerBasic computer skillsDependability and Reliability: Able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, keep commitments, is punctual and on time, and is able to take responsibility and have accountability for own actionsProblem Solving: Identifies and escalates problems in a timely manner; Gathers and communicates information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.Initiative: Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.Teamwork and Collaboration: Acts as a team player that balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.Detail-Oriented: Ability to pay close attention to detail, and understands the importance of accurate, high-quality workDemonstrates a strong work ethic and positive attitude.Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceManufacturing experience is preferredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimalsAbility to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devices.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusWork Environment:Primarily works in a manufacturing setting, which contains equipment and machinery that can be noisy and hazardousIs frequently exposed to moving mechanical partsIs occasionally exposed to chemicals, some of which could be hazardousNoise level is usually moderatePhysical Demands:Regularly required to stand, talk, and hearOccasionally required to walk, and use hands to handle or feelOccasionally required to lift or move up to 40 pounds
