Electrical Project Designer | Anaheim, CA

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Project Designer in Anaheim, CA , to lead design efforts for low- to moderate-complexity building projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger, high-complexity work. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and client guidance, with responsibility for analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for buildings. You’ll also help work within project budgets while training, mentoring, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead electrical system design efforts, creating detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standardsPartner with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong professional relationshipsSupport consulting project execution through planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities that keep work aligned with deadlines and objectivesDocument design decisions and client instructions while monitoring project progress in relation to percent complete and fee expendedAnalyze engineering challenges and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical, efficient solutionsPerform in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, and specifications, and apply IMEG quality control processes to maintain design quality and complianceStay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEGPrioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify potential risks associated with electrical systemsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated project solutionsIdentify potential project issues, seek guidance from the Project Manager as needed, and support projects through bidding and construction administrationRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent requiredEngineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry ORAssociates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryProficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildingsProficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and proficiency in the use of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In ToolsKnowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) StandardsProficient with energy compliance software such as ComCheck; Adobe or Bluebeam Revu; the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)Proficiency in Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc.Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECSAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work-life balance, and meaningful impact. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
