Description Maintenance Mechanic 3 (Lead Maintenance Mechanic Fire Alarm Technician) Join our team as a Lead Maintenance Mechanic at Western State Hospital, an adult psychiatric hospital, where you’ll guide others and ensure our facilities operate at their best. This job is a life safety specialist for an employee who holds a NICET Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification. A major part of this job focuses on fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Based out of our Life Safety shop, you'll perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment, and hospital facilities, systems, and equipment. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and Night work includes a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Maintenance and repairs in life safety, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. Fire alarm testing and maintenance. Fire suppression testing and maintenance (fire sprinklers, stand pipes, fire extinguishers). Lead team workflow, guide safety policies and procedures, and assist staff with operational procedures. Install and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical fixtures; repair air conditioning, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, gates, and hydrants. Perform preventative maintenance and repair on all types of mechanical equipment. Emergency lighting testing. Minor appliance repairs. Develop solutions to repair and maintenance issues. Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches. Qualifications Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work. (Experience in a trade may substitute for an apprenticeship). A Nicet Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification.
