Re-Entry Specialist - Tri-Valley Career Center (Contract Position)

Position Overview The Tri-Valley Career Center (TVCC) is a workforce development program of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD). Its mission is to connect qualified job seekers with meaningful employment opportunities throughout the region. TVCC operates an off‑campus site that serves both general population adults and College District students, offering access to career development resources and employment support. Through a contract with the Alameda County Probation Department, TVCC provides specialized workforce services to AB109 clients—justice‑involved individuals seeking successful reentry and long‑term self‑sufficiency. These services include comprehensive career planning, education and training enrollment, and employment support designed to promote stability and reduce recidivism. TVCC delivers these programs at its off‑campus location and other designated sites, offering job readiness training, career coaching, educational guidance, and referrals to supportive resources that address barriers to employment. In coordination with the TVCC Program Manager and Re‑Entry Coordinator, the Re‑Entry Specialist will be responsible for assisting AB109 clients with developing and implementing individualized career and education plans. This includes conducting assessments, identifying and removing barriers to employment, enrolling clients in school or training programs, and making referrals to supportive services such as housing, mental health, and substance use treatment. The Re‑Entry Specialist’s role is integral to ensuring clients receive the guidance and resources necessary to successfully reintegrate into the community and achieve their personal and professional goals. The Re‑Entry Specialist will provide comprehensive support services to justice‑involved individuals, specifically AB109 clients, with the goal of promoting successful reentry, educational advancement, and workforce readiness. The Re‑Entry Specialist will guide clients through assessments, educational and vocational planning, barrier removal, and connections to supportive resources to achieve stability and self‑sufficiency. Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm Location: 5860 Owens Dr. Pleasanton CA 94588 Key Responsibilities Client Engagement & Assessment Conduct intake interviews and eligibility verification for AB109 participants. Administer assessments to identify educational level, vocational interests, employment goals, and barriers to success. Develop individualized Education and Training Plans aligned with client goals and available resources. Provide guidance and support to enroll clients in appropriate school programs, vocational training, or certification courses. Collaborate with educational institutions and training providers to ensure successful placement and participation. Monitor client progress and maintain documentation of enrollment, attendance, and outcomes. Identify barriers such as transportation, childcare, mental health needs, or financial instability. Connect clients to appropriate wraparound services, including: Housing assistance Mental health and substance use counseling Legal aid (as needed) Provide direct assistance or referrals to partner agencies to remove barriers impacting education or training success. Case Management & Follow‑Up Maintain regular contact with clients through check‑ins, progress reviews, and supportive coaching. Track client milestones and outcomes in case management systems. Coordinate with probation officers, educational institutions, and service providers to ensure alignment and accountability. Reporting & Compliance Document all services, referrals, and outcomes in accordance with AB109 program requirements. Prepare monthly progress reports detailing enrollments, completions, and barrier removal efforts. Ensure compliance with confidentiality and data security standards. Qualifications Lived experience (formerly incarcerated/justice‑involved) or experience working with justice‑involved preferred Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in career coaching, employment services, workforce development, or social services Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Beginner to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Zoom, and database systems; comfort working with spreadsheets and tracking tools Ability to work with diverse populations facing employment barriers Knowledge of CalWORKs, WTW, General Assistance, and/or CalFresh programs is a plus Familiarity with fair chance employers and community resources Comfortable working independently while collaborating with multiple teams Strong organizational skills with attention to client confidentiality and documentation Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) is a plus Contract Terms Independent contractor status – no employment relationship; contractor must provide own benefits and report income per tax laws Contract Term: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027 (with possible renewal) Compensation: Up to $5,694.50 per month as invoiced monthly Renewal possible based on performance and funding availability. #J-18808-Ljbffr Tri-Valley Career Center
