Dental Hygienist

Place of performance: The Dental Hygienist Services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department at the Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee in Tallahassee, FL. You must pass mandatory background, credit check and drug screening. Pay & benefits: Pay Rate: $44.54. $1,500 Sign-on bonus. Competitive salary. Health insurance. Dental insurance. Vision insurance. Sick Leave/PTO: One (1) hour accrual per every 30 hours work up to 56 hours per year. Vacation: Two (2) weeks paid vacation after one (1) year of service with a contractor or successor, three (3) weeks after five (5) years, and four (4) weeks after 15 years. Shifts: 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am to 3:00pm. The shift will be up to 8 sessions per day, with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period, if applicable, Monday through Friday, exclusive of Federal holidays. Description of duties: Assists Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, and examinations. Retrieve patient's records and escorts patients to proper dental specialty section; seats and prepares patient for attending Dental Officer. Assists Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs, and medications. Passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavity, and operates aspirator. Observes patient's responses and assists patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic. Gives instructions for subsequent dental appointments. Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper records). Prepares dental treatment room for the next patient. Assists in the treatment of emergency cases. Provides dental health education. Charting for dental screening exams. Preparation of patients for periodontal surgery. Dental and periodontal charting. Places temporary fillings. Prepares places and removes packs. Places and removes rubber dams. Maintains dental equipment. Cleans, sharpens, and sterilizes instruments. Performs daily inspection of equipment and makes minor repairs. Reports defective equipment or utilizes corrective action. Prepares entries for patient's records. Education and experience : Candidate is required to be certified/licensed as a Dental Hygienist in Florida and must submit photocopies of their license and/or board certification. Dental radiology certification, anesthesia certification and CPR certification are also required. In addition, a minimum of one year of experience is preferred. #IND1
