Job Title: Orthopedic Testing & Outgoing Referral Position Type: Non-Exempt, Full Time, OnsiteLocation: Hyannis, MACape Cod Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine (CCOSM) is a privately owned, growing practice with locations in Hyannis, Sandwich and Falmouth, Massachusetts. Job Responsibilities:Patient Coordination & CommunicationServe as a liaison between patients, orthopedic providers, diagnostic facilities, and insurance companies.Communicate testing instructions, appointment details, and follow-up plans clearly to patients.Answer patient questions related to testing or referral processes.Outgoing Referral ManagementEnsure timely submission of referral paperwork and documentation.Track referral status and follow up with providers to confirm patient appointments are scheduled.Diagnostic Testing CoordinationSchedule and coordinate diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CT scans, X-rays, bone scans, EMGs, or ultrasounds.Verify test orders with physicians and ensure the correct testing protocols are followed.Communicate with radiology/imaging centers to arrange appointments and ensure timely results.Insurance & AuthorizationObtain insurance pre-authorizations or approvals for tests and referrals when required.Ensure all procedures comply with insurance guidelines to avoid claim denials.Communicate with insurance companies regarding coverage, billing codes, and documentation needs.Documentation & EMR ManagementEnter all referrals, test orders, results, and communication notes into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system accurately.Track and follow up on outstanding test results or referral reports.Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Team CollaborationWork closely with orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, and medical assistants to ensure seamless patient care.Participate in staff meetings and workflow improvement initiatives.Key Skills Required:Strong knowledge of orthopedic terminology and proceduresFamiliarity with diagnostic imaging processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks/Epic)Understanding of medical insurance and referral processesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsEmployment is contingent upon on background check and drug screening.
