Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Tech ORT Madison, WI. The Surgical Technician prepares the operating room, promotes patient safety, assists surgeons, and manages instruments and supplies throughout surgical procedures. The position supports gynecologic, genitourinary, transplant, general, orthopedic trauma, and robotic surgical cases.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day/evening 12-hour shifts, generally 06401910 Monday through Friday, with potential for one 10402310 shift weekly; weekday and weekend call required, including weekend call approximately every four to five weeks and once-weekly call. Orientation consists of two weeks of five 8-hour shifts from 06401510. A four 12-hour-shift schedule may be considered. Minimum 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of surgical technologist scrub experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
  • Successful completion of a surgical technologist program, or two years of experience in a surgical technologist role in lieu of program completion.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level I trauma settings.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, maintaining aseptic technique, supporting surgical procedures, protecting patient safety, and caring for surgical instruments and equipment. Clinical experience includes gynecologic, genitourinary, kidney transplant, general, orthopedic trauma, laparoscopic, robotic, hysterectomy, nephrectomy, cystectomy, ureteroscopy, organ procurement, and open abdominal procedures. The role serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and includes a 1:1 patient ratio.
