Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for a night shift position requiring 1 year of ICU experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Float pool position within a hospital setting covering MS, MS/Tele, PCU, ICU, Neuro ICU, and CVICU units
• Adult to geriatric patient population
• Primary floating assignment is ICU, with floating required to MS, MS/Tele, PCU, and ICU units throughout the hospital
• Patient ratios vary by unit: 1:2-3 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in MS/MS-Tele
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
• Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Works every other weekend, averaging 6 weekends over a 13-week contract
• Floating is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior charge experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skills needed include IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills needed including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Neurological skills including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery care, and TBI/spinal cord injury management
• Additional skills include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, infection prevention/isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and IV insulin protocols
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple float units including ICU, PCU, MS, and MS/Tele
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with all RTO finalized at time of submission
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment: work 1 holiday if one occurs, both if two occur, or two of three if three occur
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
• Returning travelers who canceled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
