AM Line Cook

We are looking for someone passionate about the culinary arts to join our Culinary team at the Virginia Guesthouse, a 214-room hotel located on the University of Virginia campus. The position requires morning availability and a strong desire to grow within a professional kitchen. The Cook assists the chefs in production and fabrication of food for kitchen preparation, cafeteria, banquet cooking, dining room, and fine dining. The Cook maintains a passive leadership role in maintaining adequate production levels with the Kitchen staff. Your Role Develop your knowledge and skills in various cooking procedures and methods (grill, sauté, fry) Use knives and various kitchen equipment Recreate recipes accurately Maintain consistency in all food preparation Minimize food waste through cross utilization Work with a world-class culinary team Create workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment Prepare ingredients for cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat) Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Ensure quality of ingredients What We Are Looking For 1-3 years previous experience working in a professional kitchen Evening availability required Active Food Handler’s certification or ability to obtain it Willingness to work a variety of day/night and weekend shifts Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently Able to stand for long periods of time Able to lift at least 50 pounds At least 21 years of age Desire to exceed expectations Energetic personality Pyramid Global Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer.
