Your attention to food safety, freshness, and customer service makes a real difference in the experience our customers have every time they visit.If you take pride in working with food, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and love making customers happy, this could be a great fit for you.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive oneTake customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchasesReview daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shiftPrepare, finish, and replenish product as needed, pulling items from the cooler or freezer for preparationFollow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all timesCheck in product, put product away, label and date items accurately, and remove trash promptlyAnticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay aheadOrder product and supplies as necessaryWork alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customerMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service ManagersYour SkillsTo be successful in this role, you'll need to be able to:Follow written and verbal instructions with confidenceUse basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recordingCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful wayStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy departmentHigh school diploma or equivalent required; Food Safety Certification required; six months or more of similar or related experience preferredReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, and Service ManagersEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredFood Safety Certification requiredSix months of similar or related experience preferredPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-paced role with significant activity throughout your shift. You may encounter continuous exposure to raw fish, flour, dust, noise, and temperature extremes, with occasional exposure to cleaning chemicals or solvents.
