AT - CDL Driver Trainer

divh2CDL Driver Trainer/h2pThis position will be responsible for all driver training functions for the CDL training program at their assigned location. The CDL Driver Trainer will have proven longevity in the field, excellent communication skills, and possess demonstrated physical, intellectual, and leadership ability to perform duties over the road, maneuvering range, and in classroom instruction. The CDL Driver Trainer works under the guidance and supervision of the Program Director, Lead Driver Trainer, or their designee./ph3Key Responsibilities/h3pPromotes and Maintains a Positive Learning students in all areas of trucking/driving./liliAdminister written tests on classroom material and evaluate grades./liliConduct pre-trip inspections of commercial motor vehicles/liliInstruct air-brake tests./liliInstruct straight-line backing./liliInstruct offset backing, right and left./liliInstruct 45-degree alley-docking./liliInstruct parallel parking, conventional side, and driver side./liliUtilize effective delivery skills (e.g., eye contact, voice intonation, and various questioning techniques)./liliDraw on personal experiences to relate the material presented./liliUtilizes required skills assessments to evaluate student progress in the skills required to successfully pass and obtain their Commercial Drivers License./liliAbility to stand and walk for 8-10 hours outside, in all elements, climb in and out of trucks several times a day, and lift and move up to 50 lbs./li/ulpExperience and Education Required/pulliValid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the Class level must meet the required level of the position/liliHigh School Diploma or GED./lili3 years of verifiable on-the-road experience within the last 5 years./liliMVR and background check, which includes a drug screening/liliAbility to pass our road test, as applicable./liliRequired to pass a DOT physical and DOT drug screen./liliAbility to maintain a valid Medical Examiner Certificate and pass DOT drug tests upon hire and on an ongoing basis, when applicable./liliKnowledge of procedures for and ability to execute a pre-trip inspection, air-brake tests, and CDL driving essentials (i.e. straight-line backing, offset backing, 45-degree alley-docking, parallel parking)./liliAbility to instruct shifting patterns (i.e. driving highway, city, night vs day, in different weather conditions)./liliKnowledge of and demonstrated ability to maintain vehicle equipment./liliMotivation, dedication, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for teaching./liliAbility to show sensitivity to the needs and requirements of adult learners./liliAbility to attend new faculty orientation before the first term of employment./liliAbility and desire to embrace the schools Ability to frequently climb in/out of the cab, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach to perform pre/post-trip inspections and navigate tight spaces./liliStrength: Ability to crank trailer landing gear (often 100+ lbs), handle training and safety equipment, and potentially assist with loading/unloading (if applicable)./liliEndurance: Ability to sustain physical activity and be alert during extending driving and instructional periods, including exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, ice or snow./liliSensory Acuity and Overall Health: Must possess and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiners Certificate and meet DOT physical qualifications required to hold a CDL, with or without reasonable accommodations, as required by Federal regulations./li/ulh3Specific Tasks Considerations:/h3ulliDemonstrating Skills: Physically showing students how to couple/uncouple trailers, perform inspections, and maneuver the large vehicle./liliEnvironmental Exposure: Working
