Pride Health is hiring Phlebotomist II Shift to support our client’s medical facility based in Southbury CT 06488 . This is a Contract job with a possible extension opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Pay Range/Salary Range: $19 - $21
Contract Duration: 2+ months
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections (e.g., urine and fecal samples) using straight and butterfly needles.
- Verify patient identity, physician orders, and laboratory requisitions before specimen collection.
- Accurately label, centrifuge, split, freeze, package, and store specimens according to established protocols and temperature requirements.
- Explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional, courteous, and reassuring manner.
- Maintain specimen integrity during processing and transportation.
- Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation within laboratory systems.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, decontamination, and record maintenance logs.
- Assist with troubleshooting, workflow improvements, and training as assigned.
- Respond to telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory information as appropriate.
- Adhere to OSHA, DEP, HIPAA, and all organizational safety and quality standards.
- Participate in required annual training and departmental education programs.
- Maintain a high level of punctuality, attendance, and professionalism.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification, where required by state regulations.
- Minimum of 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced hospital, laboratory, or patient service center.
- Overall 2–4 years of healthcare or phlebotomy-related experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer applications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and laboratory safety procedures.
Required Education
1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred. 3. Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington. Work Experience 1. Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections. 2. Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred. 3. Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred. 4. Keyboard/data entry experience.Interested? Apply now!
